We are looking for someone to work 1 to 2 days a week with the flexibility to work extra shifts as a backup person when needed.
Our ideal employee has the following qualities.
-At least 1 year retail experience or experience in customer service.
-A knowledge of the trends and major writers of the metaphysical book world. Knowledge of specific genres like Buddhism, meditation, psychology, yoga, crystals is a plus.
-You must be punctual as well as flexible with your schedule and have a professional demeanor.
-You must have at least a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel and be computer literate.
- Covid vaccine required.
We want someone with the ability to multi-task, problem solve and self-motivate. A warm, calm, collected and energetic personality is necessary. You must be able to handle stress and to be efficient and nice at the same time.
Starting pay is $15 an hour, $400 bonus guaranteed if you are employed 3 months after your start date

General Job Description for Soundpeace
We take the process of hiring someone to work for Soundpeace quite seriously. If you come to work for Soundpeace we are hopefully entering into a long-term relationship. We are looking for someone whose skills, personality, and willingness to work will fit in with the small community of people currently working at Soundpeace. We hope to find someone who will be a good fit and enhance the quality of our store. We also want to be a good fit for whomever we hire.
The most important role for an employee at Soundpeace is to create a great customer experience. We want customers to know they are welcome and cared for.
To create this experience we are looking for someone who has many qualities; sales skills, good work habits (shows up on time, pays attention to instruction, reliable, etc), personable, open minded, honest, cooperative, organized, a positive attitude and good communication skills. We want someone who likes working and keeping busy, and has knowledge, interest and appreciation of the merchandise we carry. Knowledge of the metaphysical book world and the major writers and contributors is a plus as is knowledge of specific genres like Buddhism, Meditation, Crystals etc. Computer literacy is required.
Ideally, as there is so much to learn at Soundpeace in regards to basic store operations, we are looking for someone who is willing and able to work at Soundpeace for an extended period of time.
One must understand that the experience of being at Soundpeace as a worker in a job situation is quite different from the experience of visiting Soundpeace as a customer. A warm, calm, collected personality is necessary for this position. You must be able to handle stress and to be efficient and nice at the same time! Yes, sometimes Soundpeace can be stressful as a worker.
We would like to find someone who can be flexible regarding hours worked, both in the timing of the hours and in the quantity. Soundpeace is open 7 days a week. The staff works in various shifts between the hours of 9:30a.m. to 6:30p.m
Your job will be to process sales and provide customers with courteous, friendly, and exceptional service. You will need to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately in order to ensure effective store operations. You will also need to have a positive attitude, pay attention to details, and take direction well.
Specifically, you will be asked to greet and welcome customers into the store, assist the customer in their search for merchandise, receive merchandise from the customer, total the bill accurately, accept payment, and make change.

- Answer customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise
- Research customers’ “Special Order” requests for books and music
- Ensure customer concerns are solved efficiently and promptly
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise
- Clean shelves, counters, and tables
- Become adept at using the point-of-sale system and on-line computer resources for researching Special Order requests
Soundpeace has a dress code: no jeans, t-shirts or worn-out looking clothes…nicer clothes are required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Daily bending/lifting to retrieve stock
- Use of step ladder to arrange/re-arrange merchandise displays
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds
